Skal Experience. Paul has been a member of Skal International Halifax since 1977 and has served on the executive in just about every capacity including President in 1982. At Ambassatours Gray Line, in his capacity at President, Paul has traveled extensively throughout the world promoting the company. In these travels, he has visited Skal functions and meals in numerous countries, most provinces of Canada and many states in the United States. Paul has attended North American Congresses in Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Nashville and Curacao over the years. At present, Paul is a retired member who always attends the Skal International Halifax monthly meetings and events whenever his is in town. Tourism Related Experience. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Paul began his career in the tourism industry while still in high school as a busboy and waiter at a summer resort hotel in the mountains of New Hampshire. He entered the motorcoach tour industry during his college years, working for Tauck Tours (now Tauck World Discovery) as a professional tour director guiding tours to New England, Nova Scotia and New Orleans. Paul moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1974 to accept the position as Manager of Nova Tours, a local motorcoach owned tour operation which operated tours to mainly United States destinations. In 1979, Paul and a business partner from New Brunswick, founded Atlantic Tours Limited which operated tours outbound to destinations in Canada and the United States and inbound to Atlantic Canada destinations of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador. In 1994, Atlantic Tours Limited merged with Ambassatours to form Atlantic Ambassatours Limited, which continues to be the leader in inbound tours to Atlantic Canada but expanding to be the Gray Line Worldwide operator and one of the largest motorcoach operators in the region. Paul retired in 2007 and now enjoys tour directing multiday tours for Atlantic Tours throughout Atlantic Canada every summer. He also is a guide for cruise shore excursions for Ambassatours Gray Line.
